In-patient care

When your horse needs continued care

We have an inpatient care department at our hospital. Here, veterinarians work in teams with animal nurses, animal care workers and physiotherapists who take care of your horse when it needs continued care.

When your horse stays at the clinic for continued examination or treatment, it is registered as an in-patient care horse. The horse is then stabled in the clinic’s care department and is cared for by our staff around the clock.

Examples of cases that are registered are wounds, colic horses, orthopaedic cases (with or without surgery), soft tissue surgery patients and medical investigations.

Spacious boxes and the possibility of isolation

Our in-patient care department has 36 spacious boxes that are divided into different departments and four boxes in a separate isolation department. The isolation department accommodates horses in cases where infectious diseases cannot be ruled out. The stalls all have separate entrances, separate ventilation systems and locks where staff can get in and out. The horses are monitored through separate windows from inside the clinic.

We can care for horses using hammocks if, for example, a fracture is suspected. We also have other devices that prevent them from lying down, which may be required for various types of wounds and fractures. Our stalls are strewn with shavings for comfort and bedding and we measure how much water the horse drinks.

We take care of the horse around the clock

In the in-patient care department, between two and three veterinarians work daily in a team with animal nurses, animal caretakers and physiotherapists. At night, the horses are monitored by an on-call veterinarian. Since the stable is also staffed around the clock, horses that need intensive care have the same access to treatment and care during the night as they do in the daytime.

We want to give your horse the best care so that you feel safe leaving your horse with us.
